Pukamani mortuary pole by Leo Parlaunga, Melville or Bathurst Island

Physical description

A solid wooden cyindrical pukamani mortuary pole with two sets of squared columns carved from the solid form. The top is carved into a human face with facial features carved in relief. The pole is pigmented with chevrons longitudinally on a dotted background. The pole leans heavily to one side.
