Physical description

Colour poster, titled "MILESTONES IN AUSTRALIAN HISTORY / 1854 / COBB AND COMPANY / (a text block briefly describes the development of Cobb's coaches) / "Today: / ITS THE SPEEDY AIRMAIL THAT CONQUERS / DISTANCE AND SAVES TIME". The drawing depicts a Cobb & Co. stagecoach and a steam train. "P.M.G. 59/5" is printed in the lower right hand corner.

Statement of significance

This collection consists of 87 items from the New South Wales historical section of Australia Post. The items range from furnishings that were used for the opening of the Sydney GPO in 1874 to telephones, signs, posters, and postal boxes. The material covers a period of over one hundred years of postal service in Australia.
