Physical description

Pink paper-covered (faded and stained) exercise book with SCOTCH COLLEGE and a shield printed in dark red on the front cover. Hand-written in ink at top centre is: Lorelle Sample Y.A.L. Melbourne. In faded capitals: DIARY and DIARY JAPAN. First page Australia - Japan and dated in the margin August 14th 1935. Boat trip from Melbourne to Japan via Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville with a trip to Magnetic Island, Cairns, Thursday Island. Fifth of September sighted the coast. Arrived in Hong Kong on 10th Sept, 11th September, Canton 16th September arrived in Shanghai, 19 September: Kobe, 21 Sept: Yokohama. 25th Sept. gymnastic display by 700 girls from Prefectural Girls High School, October 1st Largest store in the Orient.
