Epidiascope, more commonly known as a magic lantern

Physical description

Epidiascope, more commonly known as a magic lantern, made from metal, glass and brass with no plates or marks indicating its maker. The lantern has cylindrical brass parts with lenses at the front and a corroded trapezoid shaped back section. The epidiascope comes with: a wooden slide holder which is in two parts and slides together - the slides are held within the windows; nine pieces of various sized brown wood; and a concave silver dish with a black underside.
