American six-shot pepperbox revolver

Object information

Physical description

An American six-shot, pepperbox revolver with solid steel receiver engraved with a crude scroll pattern to each side. The top bar percussion hammer is stamped in the top with "W.W. MARSTON", and "PATENTED 1849" left side and "NEW YORK" on the right. The barrel is stamped "WARRANTED CAST STEEL" and "NEW YORK" on two ribs. There is are plain wooden grips held to the frame by a single screw bolt. There is no serial number.
