Water container consisting of two coconut shells, each with a round hole cut into the top and in each of these holes sits a wooden plug securing a plaited plant material cord joining the two coconuts.
The Asou Omey collection collection comprises of eight mainly woven artefacts made by Asou Omey, including a mat, basket and a hat.
Mrs Omey is from Mer in the eastern part of Torres Strait and now lives in Townsville. She continues to make objects from her homeland. This collection helps to demonstrate the continuity of craft production by a Torres Strait Islander person now living on mainland Australia.
