Physical description

A three-panel mural which depicts the flag-raising ceremony held at the landing at Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788. Postage stamps are stuck to the wooden backing to form the picture. The scene is of a group of men in blue Royal Navy and red Royal Marine uniforms, and convicts, gathered around a flagpole and raising a toast to the hoisted Union Jack. To the left is a group of Aboriginal men. In the background is a body of water and a sailing ship. The image has a border and decorative top corners formed by stamps. Each panel has a number in white on the back which denotes the panel's position in the sequence.
