Description

From notes on file: 'Tin which contained Durafur black dye manufactured by ICI [Imperial Chemical Industries]. This product dyed rabbit fur a permanent jet black. Dye was prepared from the Durafur flakes as follows: 10gm dye; 330mL water; 165ml, 60 vol hydrogen peroxide; mix adding two drops of concentrated ammonia and a few drops of wetting agent (detergent) and use within 24 hours.'

Physical description

Square metal container with round inset lid and paper label which reads in part:'IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES/OF/AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND LTD/.../Durafur Black [...]/1 lb [...].' The container is empty.
