Physical description

May Brothers Patent 1886 horse-drawn grain stripper ground wheel drive. It has a pick-up comb, followed by a belt-driven paddle type thresher drum, a de-husker plate immediately under the the thresher drum, a shute to a large galvanised metal storage bin, and a dust vent. A driver's seat is on an arm behind the single spoked-metal steering wheel at the front of the harvester, and a similar wheel is attached to both ends of the axle under the storage bin towards the rear. There are remnant traces of yellow paint on some of the galvanised components.
