Description

This is part of the equipment used by the Tiwi carvers who made 12 pukamani poles for the Museum in 1986. Jennifer Hoff comprehensively documented the making of these poles in her PhD thesis - 'Gifts for the dead : a stylistic analysis of Tiwi graveposts illuminated by a case study of their manufacture'. https://openresearch-repository.anu.edu.au/handle/1885/117362

A paintbrush, made from a wood twig with pigments, frayed at both ends and labelled "P. and N. Henry's brush".
