The Narrabri Herald dated 01/01/1912 reported that the fire started on Wednesday 27/12/1911 and that "twelve business houses were destroyed", including three hotels, a billiard saloon, butchers shop, hairdressers and tobacconists shop as well as a produce store, fruiterers shop and two large general stores.
Handwritten message on reverse is addressed to 'Miss Amy Milhan / 99 Booth St / Annandale / Sydney' and reads 'Dear Amy / This is the / view of the / east fire / Maitland Street / after the fire / what to you / think of it / from Violet'
