Physical Description

A Kata-thermometer in a dark green cardboard tube with a cap. The stem has a milk glass back with red alcohol in the glass and a lift off muslin finger cover. There are reservoirs within the stem at the top and bottom and two graduation lines on the stem. On the right hand side of the stem is the inscription Ã?Â?mean 36.5CÃ?Â?. On the back of the thermometer is the inscription Ã?Â?J. Hicks 8[,] 9 & 10 Hatton Garden London. No. 1088. F463.Ã?Â? There is a loop in the top of the glass stem with a loop of string for suspension.
