This is one of the works that Narritjin Maymuru produced in Canberra in1978, during the time that he and his son Banapana Maymuru were the first Aboriginal Creative Arts Fellows of the Australian National University. They were jointly sponsored by the University and the Aboriginal Arts board of the Australia Council.
A painting, on bark with ochres and with wooden restrainers. The painting depicts a whale with white toothy head, a yellow tail with black & white dots, and curved crosshatched bands on the body. To the left of the whale is a black and yellow harpoon. To the right of the whale is a long 'T'-shaped stick. The painting has a crosshatched background.
