Coconut container

Object information

Physical description

A coconut shell that is scraped smooth inside and out. A roughly engraved pattern traces the edge around the mouth. There are four sets of three notches made in the rim, dividing the perimeter into quarters, including two sets above the points where two twisted string handles are attached to the shell through four holes drilled in the shell. The shell has one large crack extending vertically downward from the rim, then trailing off to the left.
