Physical Description

A postcard featuring a black and white photograph of a ship on water with buildings in the background, and a message on the back. The image shows a ship with a funnel in the centre and a mast at each end. The funnel has a checkerboard patterned stripe on it. The hull is dark coloured and the central deck section is light coloured. Under the photograph is the text "S.S. "MATUNGA." / BURNS PHILP LINE OF ISLAND MAIL STEAMERS. / AUSTRALIA PAPUA SERVICE." The address on the back reads "Miss [Maund?] / Helen St / Sefton Park / Near Rookwood / N.S.W". The text has been written in two different directions, and part of it starts "Arrived. Good / passage..." The postcard has a postage stamp and two postmarks.
