A coloured postcard titled "DISCOVERY OF AUSTRALIA SERIES. - VI. / Torres, in the San Pedro, passes through Endeavour Straits, / and sights Australia. 17 Sep., 1606." The postcard is designed with an illustration of a fully rigged sailing ship. Publication identification on the reverse side of the card reads "WILLIAM BROOKS & CO., LTD., Sydney. / DISCOVERY OF AUSTRALIA SERIES..." A printed message publicising a school competition reads "Reminder. / This will serve to remind you / of the Competition amongst / Australian School Children in / connection with the "First / Discovery of Australia." This / year of grace, 1906, marks the / 300th Anniversary of the dis- / covery of our land by De / Queiros and Torres. We / would ask you to have your / school represented by at least / ONE competitor in this cele - / bration of a great historical / event. Let us know what you / are doing in this matter not / later than September 30th next." The postcard in unaddressed.
