Filling the water cart at a well in Lamamao

Object information

Physical description

A black and white photograph of a man standing at a well with a bucket. There is a semi circle of stones that acts as a windbreak, with an ox and cart to the right. A label on the photograph reads "Filling the water cart at a well in Lamamao. A circular breakwind of mud bricks is erected on the north side. What looks like stones in the foreground is actually blocks of ice which has to be continually broken away to keep the well open. Jan 1915".
