Two Royal Mail brass keys for the stamp dispenser

Object information

Physical description

Two Yale brand brass keys, one of which is bent. Both are engraved with "565" on one side and "10909" on the other.They are tied with string to a buff coloured paper tag with "Royal Mail" printed at the top and "15" written in blue ink. While found with the stamp dispenser, they do not appear to belong to this piece of equipment.

Statement of significance

This collection consists of 87 items from the New South Wales historical section of Australia Post. The items range from furnishings that were used for the opening of the Sydney GPO in 1874 to telephones, signs, posters, and postal boxes. The material covers a period of over one hundred years of postal service in Australia.
