Physical description

Narrow red cardboard box with taped edges and a square label in the upper left corner depicting three birds and text that reads "Postmasters' Display Kit No. 3 / starts Sept 4 expires October 31". "1978" is written in blue pen on the label and "Pre-stamped envelopes & SAL" is written above it. Below is a white label with typed details, same as above. A white box printed in the lower right corner is "Serial No. 579/21".

Statement of significance

This collection consists of 87 items from the New South Wales historical section of Australia Post. The items range from furnishings that were used for the opening of the Sydney GPO in 1874 to telephones, signs, posters, and postal boxes. The material covers a period of over one hundred years of postal service in Australia.
