Decorated barbed spear from Bathurst Island

Physical Description

A cylindrical tapering grooved wooden spear, with a single row of barbs, made from solid (form), pointing shaftwards. A row of eight bosses are below the barbs. The spear is pigmented, and the barbs have alternating bands of dots, cross-hatching, and diagonal lines. The opposite side has bands of cross-hatching, solid colour and infilled circles, and the shaft has bands of solid colour.
