Physical description

Colour poster with drawings depicting a woman talking on the telephone, a phone dial with "listen for dial tone" written on it , three emergency vehicles, a city skyline, a map of the world, and a puppet postman talking on the telephone. "Post Script" is written in the upper left corner. A post-it note is attached to the right side, it reads "Post script blank / Telephone, ambulance, fire engine and police car. / 1960 / Dup.".

Statement of significance

This collection consists of 87 items from the New South Wales historical section of Australia Post. The items range from furnishings that were used for the opening of the Sydney GPO in 1874 to telephones, signs, posters, and postal boxes. The material covers a period of over one hundred years of postal service in Australia.
